Fuel flexibility

One of the greatest advantages of our CPBC is the high grade of fuel flexibility. With help of the Combustion Pressure Sensor (CPS) the ECU senses the chemical properties of used fuel. If the fuel properties are within the prescribed specs the injection strategy will be adapted accordingly. This enables you to use the fuel of choice at any moment. 

Gaseous fuels

We are highly experienced with the use of Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) as main fuel. The advantage is a cleaner combustion with a lower carbon intensity than diesel fuel while the price of LNG is lower than diesel.

Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) can be used as well as in popularity increasing hydrogen fuel. Hydrogen and CNG mix in one tank without any problems, this provides less dependency on fuel availability. 


The use of alcohols reduces the emissions even further because of the additional oxygen in the molecule structure. The relative simple step from biomass to alcohol gives alcohol a high potential for being produced 100% CO2 neutral. When the engine runs on RCCI mode the engine can take a substantial amount of water in the alcohol of up to 30%, this can even reduce the emissions an extra step. Alcohol diluted with water can be produced much cheaper than pure alcohols. Our CPBC can use a lot different alcohols, even mixed in a random blend.

Single Fuel RCCI

RCCI has to be operated with 2 different fuels, one high octane fuel and one low octane fuel. In automobile applications this can be seen as cumbersome and can discourage people to choose for RCCI. An solution is that for the high octane fuel a particular fuel is used and for the low octane fuel that same particular fuel but with added cetane-booster. The added cetane-booster requires a refill of 5 liters every oil change, which could be done by the car mechanic. In this way the car owner has all the benefits of owning a RCCI car without having to worry about fueling two different fuels.
